AP US History

Advanced Placement U.S. History is an elective course for juniors who qualify based on their freshmen and sophomore work in both history and English classes.  It follows U.S. History 1 which is a semester course taken by all sophomores.  AP U.S. History  is a survey course that takes the students from the Age of Exploration to  recent U. S. history.  Students will have a broad understanding of the cause and effects of the major events of U. S. history.  Students will also be instructed through techniques to encourage higher level thinking and questioning of past and present historical events.  The end goal is to have students who will examine history from many different perspectives and to evaluate history from many different points of view and to be able to score well on the national Advanced Placement test given in early May.
